    Leading the delivery of value

Our supply chain is organized into four core functions: sourcing, materials management, technical services and support services. These teams procure and manage the materials and services used by NextEra Energy.

    Locally-Sourced_Quantum-Polesrsz

    Locally-sourced procurement

We're committed to supporting locally based suppliers. In 2018, we spent more than $1.2 billion with suppliers based in Florida, where our headquarters are located.

    Performing due diligence

Before we agree to work with suppliers, we ensure they share our values by screening them for provisions regarding safety, environmental laws and regulations, operational and economic risk, labor relations and human rights.

    Valuing a diverse business environment

Business diversity and inclusion is about increasing opportunities and ensuring fair access. Since the 1970s, we have maintained a Supplier Diversity Program that promotes the use of diverse suppliers. We proactively promote and seek opportunities to work with qualified small, disadvantaged, women-owned, veteran and service-disabled veteran-owned, and minority-owned business enterprises.

Our culture of respect for people makes us a stronger, more successful company. In the most recent federal reporting period, from Oct. 1, 2017 through Sept. 30, 2018, small and diverse businesses received more than $635 million in contracts, including:

    • $100 million with small disadvantaged businesses.
    • $61 million with women-owned small businesses.
    • $26 million with veteran-owned and service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses.
In addition, our company proudly supports and is a founding member of the Florida State Minority Supplier Development Council, whose mission is to link corporations and government agencies with Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs) to foster business development and expansion.
